Unveiling the New Voices of LatinoLEAD Project: Celebrating Latine Leadership
At LatinoLEAD, we are thrilled to announce the launch of an enhanced iteration of our renowned Voices of LatinoLEAD (VoLL) project, in collaboration with the Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) and under the visionary leadership of our Communications and Community Engagement Manager, Melissa Gonzalez Vazquez! This initiative marks a significant expansion of our commitment to amplifying the voices and stories of Latine leaders across Minnesota.
"Voices of LatinoLEAD is not just a project; it's a celebration of resilience, courage, and the vibrant diversity of our comunidad Latine en Minnesota. Through these stories, we aim to inspire and empower future generations of Latine leaders," shared Melissa.
Inspiring Through Storytelling
Originally launched in 2020, Voices of LatinoLEAD began as a monthly video series dedicated to showcasing the achievements and narratives of the Latine community in Minnesota. It has been a platform to celebrate individual triumphs while underscoring the collective influence, success, and power of Latine voices. By sharing personal journeys—full of challenges conquered and opportunities embraced—the series has aimed to inspire future generations of leaders and positively shape community narratives. This initiative has encouraged community members to nominate individuals or share their own stories, thereby fostering a pipeline of leadership committed to advancing Latine causes.
A New Chapter: Amplifying Voices Across Minnesota
In partnership with the Minnesota Humanities Center, we are thrilled to unveil the revamped Voices of LatinoLEAD project. This evolved initiative will spotlight Latino leaders who have shattered barriers, navigated challenges, and forged unique paths to success. Through longer-length films, we aim not only to highlight these compelling narratives; but also to inspire the next wave of Latine leaders, foster community pride, and challenge harmful stereotypes that undermine our community's potential.
Guiding Lights: The VoLL Task Force
Under the expert guidance of our esteemed VoLL Task Force—comprising Dr. Jessica Lopez Lyman, a Professor in the Department of Chicano and Latino Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities; Elsa Vega Perez, a Philanthropy and Non-profit Organizational Consultant and Mother to Representative María Isa Pérez-Vega (DFL) District: 65B; and Sandy Vargas, former President and CEO at The Minneapolis Foundation—we are poised to delve deeper into the stories that define and empower our community. Supported by MHC's MayKao Fredericks and Eden Bart, our mission is clear: to showcase the rich history, diversity, resilience, and leadership within the Latine community.
